Hi u/shanode if you want to find out if a cell booster will work in your home, some signal testing will be a great idea before purchasing.Ī solid guide on how to do that can be found here. Many boosters have a trial period, or at least they did, so you could try one out and not be out much. But, with a poorer signal outside, the signal may look stronger inside, but it is also possibly "dirtier". Displaying 1 bar without to 4 with (didn't compare actual signal numbers, at least not to remember them). But with, it extends battery life a fair bit, and up/down speeds ~maybe 50%+ more or so. With Verizon, I can get a signal in the house now without the booster. Verizon works a lot better, so I don't use them now. But I got most of the plan "up to" speed I subscribed to at the time (most of the time). It didn't have much range from the inside antenna. With booster, not 100% reliable, but say 99%, would get better than -80dBm in the house. On the roof, worse than -130dBm, wouldn't lock on. The regional cell carrier had no signal in the house. I know MANY people that also have them, they can work fine. I've had one for 7 years, Verizon tower now is 13 miles away, no issues. ![]() ![]() It'll depend, there isn't a concrete, same answer.
